The unspoken fear

In the dead of the night when all is fast asleep my old friend comes to visit. As we are on our way to embark on a very special journey the excitement in the house is electrifying. Through-out our research and planning I have always planned for the worst case scenario. That unspoken fear of what if. It leaves you paralysed and consumes all your darkest and deepest ghosts.

Planning something is never easy. There is always pro’s and con’s. The beautiful breathtaking and that unspoken truth. This is when we are so valnurable to fear. Yet we know better: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7. Powerful words but one of our biggest human mistakes. We forget and listen to that little voice telling us different stories.

We feel at times alone. We feel that there is not one person that can possibly understand what we think and how we feel. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7. Today I read a message on facebook that was exactly what I have prepared myself for mentally. That worst case scenario. The fear starts and I think should I take the step into the unknown to better a future for my family? Should I take the leap to pave the way for the rest to follow and give them a chance to maybe better themselves or should I stay? Then I remember.

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” ~ Luke 12:22-26

It is then that I speak to my Father from my heart. Something that should be the most natural and actually the first thing to do. For then and only then you can start to see clearly.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6
“’For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you,’ declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” ~ Isaiah 41:13-14
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” ~ Psalm 46:1
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper.” ~ Psalm 118:6-7
“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.” ~ Proverbs 29:25
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” ~ Mark 4:39-40
This message is about remembering that the amour of God in so strong. Once you have it on and you are ready and brave for then and only then all things are possible. The bad doesn’t seem so bad anymore. Yes the fear is still there but for some reason its bearable. Its realistic and it arms you with the knowledge that this path has been set out by God for He has written it before you were even born.

The journey is never about just packing your bags and travelling to another country and the unknown, its packing the tools to face every day challenges with the neccesary knowledge that you are never powerless. You are never alone. You are loved and protected by the one Father who will never forsake you. All He ask is that you speak your heart and open the doors so that He can enter and be with you every step of the way.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”…He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you…For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways…“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him…” from Psalm 91:1-16

Be assured, He is with you in whatever you face, in the turmoil and struggles, amidst the anxious thoughts and the worries of life. He is there, strengthening, helping, and He holds you in His hands.
That unspoken fear is now a spoken truth. Its a reality that I know can be beaten. Its not a fear anymore. Its a challenge. A challenge to change the things I can and the difference in knowing when just an unspoken word, a gesture can open up a brand new world.
“Tell everyone who is discouraged, Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue…” ~ Isaiah 35:4
